YOGA

Our studio provides a variety of classes intended to stretch and restore tense areas (restorative, gentle, yin, yoga for the back), move and be flexible (flow) or perhaps take it up a notch and burn calories and build strength (power flow, fusion). Whatever your goals are, our studio has something for you!

All of our yoga classes are “open level” meaning even if you have never done yoga before, you can start with any class on our schedule! We have clients from all walks of life start yoga classes for many different reasons, whether it is to be active while recovering from an injury, supplement another type of workout, to relax or meditate, be active during or after pregnancy, or even to burn calories and lose weight. Yoga is for everyone, and anyone can do it! All of our instructors are minimum 200 hr RYT certified.

What makes our studio different is our “modern” style of classes. Our classes incorporate music and even mirrors as an option for alignment. Although our classes DO always include meditation, our studio does not use sanskrit, essential oils, or other items typical of a “purist” yoga studio. Many people find this less intimidating, as we are open to students from all walks of life and levels. You will never feel judged at our studio for choosing not to embrace the spiritual aspect of a yoga practice. Again we welcome and enjoy providing yoga to students with all different goals, experiences, and expectations

RESTORATIVE

Restorative yoga is the “most gentle” of our yoga classes. Restore yoga helps the body come back into natural alignment through gently holding postures on the floor in a relaxed and gentle manner for an extended period of time. Restore involves the centering of the breath and body, aligning the physical and mental by practicing stillness or gentle movement for extended periods of time. The props assist in helping to hold poses longer.

Each class contains just around 6 poses (i.e.: up to 10 minutes each), and the entire class is conducted on the floor. Each class ends with a guided relaxation for rejuvenation.

YIN YOGA

Yin yoga is based on the Taoist concept of yin and yang, opposite and complementary principles in nature. Yin is the stable, unmoving, hidden aspect of things; yang is the changing, moving, revealing aspect. In the body, the relatively stiffconnective tissues (tendons, ligaments, fascia) are yin, while the more mobile and pliable muscles and blood are yang.
A Yin yoga class usually consists of a series of long-held, passive floor poses that mainly work the lower part of the body – the hips, pelvis, inner thighs, and lower spine. These areas are especially rich in connective tissues. The poses are held for up to five minutes, sometimes longer.
Yin yoga is a great complement to anyone with a stronger physical practice.
